Spelvin tries hard but can't put over an incompetent porn drama
Georgina Spelvin hit big in 1973 with DEVIL IN MISS JONES; I remember the gushy (even mainstream) reviews comparing her with Marlon Brando in terms of acting skills. But her obvious talents were generally wasted, in subsequent creaky vehicles like ALL THE WAY or in abortive non-porn assignments for such no-talents as Al Adamson.
Anonymous filmmakers signing in as "Drew Eden" (director), "Kim Finley" (producer) and "Eli Saxe" (scripter) have concocted a stupid story of novelist Everett (no-talent "Arri Gopen") on a ranch working on his book, with wifey Dolores (Spelvin) hating the rural lifestyle. She wants the action of city life, and who can blame her after sitting through this dull opus.
Gimmick is that the plot of Everett's novel (announced pointedly at the beginning of the film) mirrors what's going on with the film's main characters. Get Pirandello on the horn for a rewrite, please.
We see Everett cheating with gap-toothed Katie (Cindy Bell), then Spelvin gets it on with flashily dressed tall & Black Russell (familiar porn stud Pharoah Amos). With a conk hairdo and similar mustache he looks like a tall-tall Chuck Berry here, way too tall to have doubled for him in the famous "is it Chuck?" sex tape.
Film's peculiar nature is first signaled by Georgina's first sex scene wherein Pharoah performs cunnilingus for what seems like an hour of running time and never removes any of his clothing, having to run off when Everett comes home unexpectedly. This departure from usual XXX content is alarming. So is the dialog, e.g., Georgina declaring: "Don't talk, eat!".
Spelvin demands a divorce, so Everett rides his horse over to Russell's house for a confrontation, but Russell beats him up. Everett then hi-tails it back to Katie, just to split up with her. These nonsensical events (in an evidently non-scripted junker) lead to Pharoah getting a Mulligan, and humping Spelvin "all the way" in a hay loft.
That same hay loft pops up preposterously as the back room of a gas station (you gotta see this to believe it) when Everett gives another gap-toothed gal Yvonne (Sandra Stevens, previously the star of the much better Frisco-made porn GINA: THE FOXY CHICK) a ride after her car breaks down but she has no money for the can of gas obtained at the service station. The two guys ball her in the hay in a clumsily constructed troilism scene wherein Everett disappears midway through the humping only to reappear at the end.
Yvonne gets a ride from Katie and the two have hot & heavy gap-toothed lesbian love on the front seat. Yvonne receives $20 from Katie for her trouble, not all that romantic. But at least the low-low budget filmmakers have gotten the most out of mixing & matching their little cast.
Truly moronic finish has Spelvin getting mighty drunk at the local Pastime bar waiting in vein for Russell to show up as promised (her acting here is miserable), and Everett arrives instead to make up with her. As they head happily back to the ranch, Katie and Russell are seen whizzing by in a car, meant to be a cynical "twist" ending.
This is desultory porn, unimaginatively staged and poorly acted by a cast that (other than Spelvin) couldn't even read cue cards properly. Leading man "Arri Gopen" (I guess that means something in Hebrew) has a small cock and nothing else going for him. Supporting femmes sure ain't giving Lauren Hutton any competition, despite their Terry-Thomas front teeth.
Alarmingly, this way-below-average stinker is out on two competing videos, both using nearly identical prints, the marginally longer version on DVD-R from Something Weird and the DVD from VCX.
