Make sure you have the right movie

The movie opens with our hero coming to town on a train. I always start my reviews with a brief description of the opening scenes. This is because many of these movies have multiple titles and the titles rarely refer to anything happening in the movie. This movie can easily be confused with Shaw Brothers 1972 "The Deadly Knives" because that movie is also known as "Fists of Vengeance". So now that you know what movie I am writing a review for, let's go.

I first watched this movie about 5 years ago. That copy had poor resolution to the point I could hardly tell the actors apart. I have since acquired a better copy. It has resolution and square screen size similar to an old VHS tape and it is English dubbed. To my knowledge this is the best available.

Our hero arrives back in town to find things have changed. For example, his brother has absconded with his girlfriend. The Japanese have taken over the mine producing the valuable "red sand".

The last 25 minutes or so is almost nonstop action. The action is good but starts to look all the same. This is offset by using many different fight locations that are actually dangerous.

I recommend this movie for fans of the genre and rate it just a bit above average.
