The squad is attacked by an enemy plane and Pvt. Slade is supposedly fatally wounded, but as he lies in the dirt, it's perceptible that he's still breathing; also, his eyelids flutter. Pvt. Russo rushes over and lies on top of Pvt. Slade, feeling for a pulse and declares "He's had it" and tears off the dog tag.
