One of Ron Sullivan's worst
I've seen well over a hundred features by the late Ron Sullivan (aka Henri Pachard), but wasn't prepared for the crappiness of "Pro Ball". Without taking back any prior praise for the filmmaker, I have to concede that this one's so bad it seems to be on purpose.
Only saving grace is casting a bevy of redheads, headed by Patricia Kennedy and Flame, whose beauty almost surmounts the sludge they're participating in. Kennedy aspires to gain access to football locker rooms so that she can interview the players and break through a sort of glass ceiling (or wall) that kept female sports journalists down. Flame is sort of a team therapist, giving players rub downs and happy endings.
Nothing much happens here, except for terrible lighting, including smoked set at one point which I interpreted to represent steam emanating from the showers, and a ridiculous set for hambone Joey Sivlera's scenes that looked ike the catacombs with walls decorated with skull-shaped objects (visual quality of the Caballero DVD I watched is so poor that I can only guess).
Jon Dough gives another of his horrible performances, acting stupid and pounding head against the lockers. During a sex scene he puts his helmet on the girl being humped (Kennedy), and afterward Patricia pounds her helmeted head against a locker. Either the cast or Sullivan was acting out here, frustration at having to make such crap expressed in the form of head-banging.
