Meager, incompetent attempt at porn
Its title and DVD packaging completely bogus, "Motel Hell" turns out not to be a riff on the wonderful 1980 B-movie horror opus but rather a bunch of footage masquerading as a video feature. It holds zero interest except (like so many porn artifacts) as something for die-hard Ron Jeremy fans to watch.
That's because the script-less wonder has Ron cast as manager/desk clerk of a seedy motel (I believe it's called "Mates Motel" if I heard him correctly) who improvises his stand-up act and even talks to himself a lot (and to the audience) to fill dead air. The biggest surprise and oddity is that Jake Steed gets a decent screen credit up front and at the end, yet has no sex scene at all, merely popping up and looking quite uncomfortable in the role of bellboy, basically a straight man to Ron who speaks in one-word answers reminiscent of ancient comedy routines (though unfunny here) of which Jose Jimenez by Bill Dana comes to mind (or Mel Blanc with Jack Benny).
The women in the film have no roles, just check in the hotel and get humped, mostly by Cal Jammer, though Ron does pitch in to share the load (so to speak). I found all of them to be skanky looking, though true believers in early '90s video porn might have some affection for these forgotten no-name starlets. Much of the cast appeared the same year in an even crummier video set at a hotel, titled "Vice-Versa".
The filmmaker August West was definitely an industry bottom-feeder, so chances of a star name like Ashyn Gere or Tori Welles or Victoria Paris or Savannah appearing were nil.
This is my third video encounter with hack West and hopefully will be the last.
