Adult? Yes. Interesting? Yes. Worth watching? Yes!
Sciurus18 October 1999
I just came across this oldie in a friend's collection of adult titles. When I first starting watching it, I thought it was a "real" movie. As for the "action," there is nothing here that is particularly interesting or new. But, it should be noted that the dialogue is exceedingly well written and the acting of John Leslie rivals that of most actors you'll see in either adult films or general movies. If you have the opportunity, check it out. As far as adult films go, it's as close to a real movie as you'll find.

Porno Potboiler Overshadowed by Production Values
Nodriesrespect28 September 2007
The self-proclaimed 'biggest adult film of 1986' is just that, the type of big budget affair the porn industry turns out from time to time in a vain attempt to compete with Hollywood, forgetting why people watch erotic films in the first place. John Leslie and Gina Carrera (who looks positively fabulous in period dress) are perfectly capable as Nick and Nora Chalmers (yeah, right), the writing team of a series of dime store detective novels who board the titular vehicle in order to gain inspiration for their latest installment.

Unfortunately, the stolen diamond plot they run into is neither particularly original (unless you count the gem's eventual hiding place) or exciting. Even worse is the fact that pretty much the same thing can be said about the infrequent sex scenes. Carrera comes off best with a great chemistry encounter with banging Belgian Francois Papillon (hey, you thought Jean-Claude Van Damme was our only gift to the movie world ?!) and a pretty decent - meaning it's not - three-way with Leslie and back door specialist Keli Richards.

The movie looks good and the acting's mostly passable though someone should have protected Tracey Adams from that god-awful phony Cockney accent she chose to rather implausibly imbue her character (secretary to posh British lady Pat Manning) with. Helmer Tim McDonald certainly made quite a few better porn movies than this one. Better pick up copies of TALK DIRTY TO ME PART 2, ALEXANDRA or PLAY ME AGAIN, VANESSA. Okay, so the last one's a heavy duty personal favorite, so sue me.

A Film So Good They Forgot The Porn Part
russbgrant28 November 2021
Leslie and Carrera are Nick & Nora - yes THAT Nick & Nora, right down to the little white pup dog - who take a train trip for writing inspiration and get mixed up in a murder once it's discovered a rare jewel is on board. There's a lot to like in this. Numerous callbacks to the legendary pulp detectives, career high performances by Leslie and Eric Edwards and a setting that looks great all elevate this one production wise. The problem with it is the porn part feels more extraneous than part of it, taking a back seat to the rest of the picture. I found that despite its overall quality it was a bit of a patience tester.

Sex, Mystery and Deception on The Orient Express.
ScootyPuff_Sr9 June 2002
"Lust on the Orient Express" is an excellent example of an adult film that is desperately trying to not be an adult film. The plot would be passible in todays' "mainstream" entertainment. It is an superb film that I would suggest that any reputable adult film collector should have in their collection. Compared to todays' daytime and primetime television this is tame and timid at times. If anyone who reads this knows anything about the cast of this film, PLEASE register and add your information. Patricia Manning does an excellent job of portraying "Miss Avery", and sadly this appears to be the last work in entertainment, she is a great female thespian, who carries this film, with the assist of John Leslie, Gina Carrera, Eric Edwards, Jamie Gillis and the rest of this fabulous cast.
