Not a pretty picture.

This was a pretty boring Pink Panther cartoon that was pretty predictable - the panther takes on photography and attempts to take pictures of the animals in the forest, only to find himself under attack by an annoying woodpecker and a ferocious alligator. So, it's just a lot of bad luck for the panther as the animals chasing him in circles and he couldn't even get to snap one photo. I wished the panther would have at least counterattacked the animals' harassing him.

Not much humor in this one and the music soundtrack sounded too jazzy. The animation was colorful, though.

Grade D-

Glaring examples of made-for-television mediocrity . . .

Warning: Spoilers
. . . abound during PINK PICTURES. Obviously, the low-rent cheap greenhorn members of the revamped animation squad lacked any semblance of coordination and oversight. There are several scenes here that actually picture the Pink Panther running upright on six or eight legs! Such crude juvenile doodling indicates the total absence of quality control, allowing rough scribbles to become part of the final product. Another dead giveaway denoting clumsy lackluster formulaic story telling involves a red-headed woodpecker chopping away the panther's perch time and again because the writers could not come up with a second gag for this picture. Surely the Panther jumps the shark more than once here.

Amateur photography with the Pink Panther...

While the story is a little routine and repetitive Pink Pictures is a good Pink Panther cartoon, and I found it an improvement on the previous cartoon Therapeutic Pink and almost all the 1976 cartoons. The animation is one of the improvements with the exception of the under-sized and scrappily down cliff top and an animal that I wasn't sure whether it was meant to be a big dog or a bear. The colours are warmer and livelier(bigger variety too) and the backgrounds while simple are detailed and not sparse. The theme tune is still timeless and Steve De Patie's music is a worthy replacement for Walter Greene and Bill Lava, it's not as subtle or as slinky but it sure has a lot of energy and wasn't too overbearing. The visual gags aren't the most original- like with the wood pecker- and the outcomes are not surprising(apart from perhaps the frog and alligator gag) but are very funny and it was nice to see a variety of animals rather than just one character battling Pinky. Pinky oozes coolness and likability, and he has great comic timing without even saying a word, you do feel sympathy towards him as well. The animals are good foils too. In conclusion, not mind-blowing and not among the best Pink Panther cartoons but a good one and better than the previous cartoons and the 1976 entries which are still watchable. 8/10 Bethany Cox

Pink Pictures is not a perfect Pink Panther cartoons, but is a good one. The animation is good just like the backgrounds. The story features Pinky trying to take photos of animals. Is also a good story. The animals where good foils, too, in special that hateful woodpecker. Steve DePatie's music is not so good (he ruined the main theme) as Walter Greene or William Lava, but is satisfying. In my opinion, Pink Pictures is not one of the best cartoons but Pink-In and Cat and the Pinkstalk are no matches for this cartoons.
