Pleasing western with at least one novel twist.

Warning: Spoilers
Lively little western, based on what was to become a familiar theme (namely that cowpokes strongly object to inheriting a woman boss), coupled with the usual rustling activity – although even that has a novel twist. In this one, although the cowpokes know for a fact who the rustlers are, they don't run the villains out of town or even string them up. Instead they wait super-patiently to actually catch the villains in the act of switching brands. It's nice to know the West was such a law-abiding place and not in the least way like it's presented in 99.9% of rival pictures.

Extensively filmed on real locations, with good performances all around, although it's Kathryn McGuire as the tenderfoot heroine and – to a lesser extent – Robert Thurston as the law-breaking rustler who easily steal the acting honors from the by-the-book hero so routinely enacted by Fred Church. Already I've forgotten what he looked like, although I saw the movie only last night. The super-lovely Kathryn McGuire and smooth-talking Robert Thurston, however, are indelibly etched on my memory. Available on a very good Grapevine DVD.
