A Comedy Gem
HogMild9 August 2001
Chris Elliot dons his "annoying guy" persona once again, this time as a wanna-be thespian attempting to re-create the life and times of FDR on the stage of a local community theater. And he's not going to let cheap production values, an uninterested audience, or mean-spirited stagehands get in his way. He also wasn't too interested in the factual events of FDR's life while writing his biographical one man show.

This show is an excellent showcase of Chris Elliot's wonderfully imaginative comedy and it really is a shame this video isn't more widely available. There are some real belly laughs here. Elliot's father also has a brief, but funny cameo. If you ever come across this, do yourself a favor and WATCH IT! It's a genuine comedy gem.

Comedic beauty having little to do with FDR

I haven't seen this in a while but I loved it. If you liked the cult TV series 'Get A Life' you'll love this absurd bit of genius. Elliot plays out a one-man show at the community theater for the camera but has very little knowledge of the actual life of Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Fans of Chris Elliot can probably begin to guess where that would lead; Odd stories that are as wildly off subject as anything in 'Cabinboy' or as psychologically disturbed as anything in an episode of 'Get A Life' and all delivered within that same blind, delusional self-confidence that you find in much of his work. If you find a copy get it for yourself and get me one while you're at it.
