a movie for easy watching
dragokin8 February 2015
Satellite TV is an amazing tool bringing to your attention forgotten cinematic moments such as For Love Alone: The Ivana Trump Story. It is a movie that might fill a lazy weekend afternoon or a long winter evening as you snuggle on the sofa with your beloved one.

The movie is based on Ivana Trump's book which, in turn, is a surrealist take on her autobiography. It is a rag-to-riches story with some strong emotional moments and tough decisions to be made.

If i'd have to describe For Love Alone: The Ivana Trump Story in a couple of words, i'd say it's a typical TV romantic drama for easy watching.

"Based upon the magnificent autobiographical novel by Ivana Trump,... blah... blah... the motion picture captures the fears and hopes, the passion and grasping of one of the most intriguing women to ever be part of America's passing parade."

Thank you, Donald.

Triumphant Story Which Is Deeply Moving
dianerpessler-4616420 July 2015
Based upon the magnificent autobiographical novel by Ivana Trump, this is an epic story of a young Eastern European woman who escapes to embrace the American Dream. Beautifully directed and sharply adapted from the book, the motion picture captures the fears and hopes, the passion and grasping of one of the most intriguing women to ever be part of America's passing parade. While names are changed and events altered a bit, the truth of the novel never is lost and the film strives to remain truthful to Ivana's triumphant story. This is truly an inspiring tale of achievement, of struggle, of heartbreak, and ultimately love. A deeply moving, powerful story and fitting tribute to a remarkable woman's strength and courage.

A waste of time

Warning: Spoilers
This is obviously some kind of joke. This is one of the worst Lifetime movies ever produced. Someone owed Donald a huge favor, bc that's the ONLY way this was made.

The acting is HORRIBLE. The girl who plays Ivana/Katrinka is really bad & overacts like a champ. Stephen Collins is playing Donnie/Adam as entitled/pompous/God's gift to business/women equals very wooden/stiff. They do try and make this watchable, but it's just not possible with what they're working with.

I can say they're using Soap Opera techniques to draw the audience in, such as speaking in hushed tones, so you have to pay attention to everything they're saying to keep up/follow along with the conversation.

This movie keeps pushing the money/wealth and "success" of Adam at us, as if that's supposed to endear him to the audience. Spoiler alert: It doesn't.

These 2 actors have ZERO CHEMISTRY together and it's incredibly painful to watch the "love" and sex scenes.

The majority of this stink bomb is 2 fold. First She spends her time looking for her son that she gave up (but really didn't want to), and then she's sucking up to her husband, telling him how wonderful he is all the time (blah, blah, blah). Me thinks Donnie had script approval. 🤣 I originally put this tv movie on because Madelyn Khan was listed as a character. Her talents are wasted in this flop. She plays a Hedda Hopper style gossip writer. I hope she was paid well for her 3 minutes in this snoozefest.

Ivana makes an appearance for about a minute, as a socialite who gives Katrinka directions on the Streets of NYC. *as if 👀* Katrinka starts to take the blame for her divorce, until Adam cheats on her (with a Princess that Katrinka helped smuggle out of some Arabic country she & her son were oppressed in, or so she thought).

Katrinka wins everything and has the big Hollywood ending. It's all drivel.

This is mostly a work of fiction and there's some areas of the movie that you can tell are loosely based on Ivana's life.

Save yourself the 2 hours of your life and watch something else.
