This 1916 film is often confused with The Toll of Justice (1923), a racist film produced by the Ku Klux Klan and available at the University of North Carolina archives. This 1916 is an innocuous film with no relation to the other.
This film about the Ku Klux Klan was found to be so racist that even Thomas Dixon Jr. (who wrote "The Clansman", the literary source for the controversial The Birth of a Nation (1915)) was offended. In addition, it was reported that the film was actually financed in part by a Florida chapter of the Ku Klux Klan.
