The black lamb, urged on by the devil, tells his flock that a wolf is coming -- he isn't. Later, when the wolf does appear, no one believes his warning and mama is taken for the woolen mills in this workaday Terrytoon.
This is the sort of story that Paul Terry's studio did every two or three years and while there is some variation in the gags -- including a good sequence derived from Chaplin's MODERN TIMES -- efforts like these simply make me wonder what the 1944 version will look like Director Connie Rasinski offers a typically competent cartoon. Terrytoons, if you enjoy their childish handling of stories (doubtless if you do, you think of them as "child-like") knew what they were about. For my taste, however, they seem less inspired than their competitors.
