first talking vagina film; fortunately, not the last
rduchmann9 June 2000
Schoolgirl Brittany Laine (aka softcore starlet Linda York) accidentally invokes the devil while reading the Necronomicon in bed, and her female parts begin to talk -- incessantly. Exorcism is required, but somehow I don't think Max von Sydow is up to this job.

Overall, film suffers from being altogether too tame. It was apparently shot during one of the periodic crackdowns on XXX in L.A., and though there is hardcore footage, it is all insert and it looks to me as if one couple probably did all the porn closeups for scenes featuring several different cast members. Even such porn stalwarts as Starlyn Simon and Rene Bond do not visibly provide their own stuntwork. This seriously lowers the erotic appeal of the film, which was not that high to begin with. Film is little more than a nudie cutie with some explicit footage spliced in. A cinnamon candy drop has more heat. This topic was handled considerably better in the 1976 French film PUSSY TALK (my local newspaper advertised it, demurely, as CAT TALK), and even the dopey 1977 softcore CHATTERBOX is more interesting than this. Strictly for those who would like to see Rene Bond tied to a table, peeled out of a tight nurse uniform, and softcore groped for a few minutes (you know who you are).

Amusing seventies horror comedy porno
The_Void9 December 2008
Angel Above - The Devil Below is a sleazy seventies porn flick that takes in horror and comedy themes to deliver its porn. The film focuses on a young girl, fittingly named 'Randy' (which I always thought was a boy's name, but whatever). Randy is up late last night reading the Necronomican (as you do) and tragedy strikes when she accidentally calls up the devil...and he possesses her vagina. This then leads to plenty of comical situations as the possessed vagina develops a voice of its own and begins talking to any prospective male sexual partners. This film is rather silly as you would expect; but I actually really enjoyed it. This is the first film I've seen about a talking vagina, and the idea is rather amusing. The plot is virtually nonexistent and the film doesn't do anything that you wouldn't expect it to; in fact, it mostly just jumps from one sex scene to another. The sex itself is not particularly hardcore; despite the film having a real 'roughie' feel and clearly the main draw of Angel Above - The Devil Below is the central idea; which is at least enough to keep it going for the eighty minute running time.
