Rather odd little Magoo short-Magoo the sculptor
llltdesq11 May 2014
Warning: Spoilers
This is a Mister Magoo short from UPA Studios. There will be spoilers ahead:

Magoo is trying to find some way to occupy his time, so Waldo suggests he enter a sculpting contest in hopes of winning first prize. Magoo recalls a sculptor friend he believes will let him use his studio. Magoo more or less invites himself over there.

On arriving at the studio, he talks to a coat rack he thinks is his friend and convinces himself that his friend is agreeable to his use of the studio. He asks for "a comely model".

The subplot is of a burglar the police are certain they have trapped in the same building. The thief hears Magoo's request for a model and figures that would be a way to escape capture, so he dresses like a woman. Naturally, he fools Magoo completely.

A policeman comes to search the studio and eventually figures things out, chasing the thief, who is caught (inadvertently) by Magoo, who gets the reward. His sculptor friend is not pleased by the damage to the studio, but Magoo being Magoo, simply overlooks this.

All the Magoo theatricals, along with a Magoo feature film, are now available in a box set done by Shout! Factory, which is excellent and well worth getting. Recommended.
