El uknowingly becomes the assistant to a jewel thief.
El Brendel is arrested as a vagrant and told to get a job or leave town. He is hired unawares as a valet to a jewel thief who takes him to the home of the judge who sentenced him. Brendel disguises himself as a maid to distract the thief and keep him from ransacking the judge's home.
