Here Comes a Sailor
Actually two sailors, and neither of them Popeye -- the Fleischers would not introduce him to movie screen for another three years, and then they would use this tune as his theme for the first couple of cartoons.
This nautical-themed cartoon is an early exemplar of how the Flieschers would do a lot of their Screen songs: a series of gags on a theme, then something round -- in this case a biscuit -- turns into the famous Bouncing Ball for verse and chorus; some more gags and then a repetition of the chorus, with the words transforming into other gags. The gags are good. The visuals are rather underdone for the Fleischers. Perhaps Al Eugster, who did most of the real work on this one was short of time.
Still, it's all very good. If others would be better, there's a lot of fun here.
