Despite this cartoon being made in 1925, like many silent cartoons, music and sound effects were added later and the copy I found had these changes.
When the story begins, Felix breaks into the ice box to get a snack but soon the home owner arrives and threatens to shoot the cat if he shows up again. So, Felix stays inside the ice box and soon all sorts of strange happenings occur! Instead of an ice box, suddenly it becomes the frozen Arctic inside...with angry natives, bears and more! Does it make any sense? No....but it certainly is weird and fun.
By the way, if you are curious, the title is a play on the Chaplin film from that same year. "The Gold Rush" was a big hit so it's not surprising that Felix would try to cash in on its popularity.
