A silent treat from the early age of Finnish cinema
Petey-103 September 2006
The father of the family, played by Aku Käyhkö starts having a terrible toothache while playing cards with friends. And he's also very scared of dentists. The plot is very simple as it often was in silent pictures. But it doesn't need a big plot, only some funny comical situations. This offers some great absurd humor.Aku Käyhkö is brilliant expressing the agony one simple toothache can bring. This wouldn't work so good without Mr Käyhkö's terrific performance.Naimi Kari does great work portraying mom.Emmi Jurkka is playing the maid very well. Her husband Eino Jurkka can be seen playing dad's pal.Erkki Karu's Kun isällä on hammassärky (1923) is a mighty funny treat for the silent film fans. You don't even have to be Finnish.
