Affairs of state have reached a crisis in the kingdom of Valdonia. The Princess Iris is threatened by debt and is being plotted against by treacherous enemies. It is announced that a marriage has been arranged for her with Boris, Prince of a neighboring State, who in turn will shoulder the public debt, Billy Bangs, a young American millionaire, arrives on the scene to collect the debt Valdonia owes his father. On the road he meets Crown Prince Boris, who is an old college chum. It comes out that both are bound for the same court on different missions, and a bargain is struck. They change clothes and impersonate each other. At the critical moment with revolution threatening Billy admits that he is an impostor, but the Princess tells him that she has known all the time. In the meantime the real Prince and party are captured by brigands and are held to ransom. Billy rescues them and marries the Princess.
