past as slice of fight
Vincentiu6 June 2012
two men. a meeting. at different ages. inside a fight. film of nuances and honor, revenge and victory, with crumbs of Nazi and same powerful, honest, perfect hero of Nicolaescu movies, it is , in same measure, another film about profound basic values and picture of a vision about life and duty. exercise of obsessions, slice of director style, search to create, in American note, a honest movie in Communist Romania, it is just perfect demonstration of art to say truth in special formulas. a mixture of past and present, good acting, few strange shadows,in part, not inspired choices, it is a movie for every season. strong, fresh, men, it may be alternative to many fight movies.

A movie about the chance in life
coman_andrei8 August 2000
An excelent movie about the second chance in life and about the figth between to old rivals. It is important to observe the determination of the two men who want to settle once and for all their dispute, and to see if the success in life and sport of one of them was due only to the external factors or it was his real merit.

bizarre mixture
Kirpianuscus15 June 2016
one of films who defines in each detail the filmography of Sergiu Nicolaescu. the good guy with traits of hero. the shadows of the dark past. the moment of truth. the confrontation. and the predictable final.so, nothing surprising. only long box rounds, sparkles from a version of Occident, friendship and revenge. and only problem is the strange mixture of themes, the Manichean definition of characters and the chain of punches. the great virtue - the image. not a bad film but far to be more than piece from a cinematography prisoner of Comunist regime who imagine the entertainment as tool of propaganda. and that is the problem. interesting for its period, today Ringul becomes boring. the noble intentions of Sergiuu Nicolaescu are obscures and the admirable job of Marin Moraru and Adina Georgescu-Obrocea - insignificant details.
