While definitely not amongst the 'best of the best' in terms of sleazy smut films-TALES OF THE BIZARRE is definitely better than average.
The plot concerns four sluts sitting around having a pajama party, who decide to relay their scummiest sexual experiences to each other. Of course all of the women's tales involve hard sex and/or rape-and by the end of the telling-all of the girls are all hornied up from hearing each others stories. Lucky for the four ladies-one of the scumbags from one of the ladies stories is peeping from outside the window-and when he hears what the sluts are talking about-he summons the other male participants from the stories to come over and have an orgy with the girls. How this guy happened to know how to contact three other seemingly unrelated guys from stories he never heard before is beyond me-but it made for a decent ending to a suitably sleazy film...
TALES OF THE BIZARRE is a solid roughie in most departments. All of the girls stories involve some form of rough and misogynistic treatment from their male tormentors (or pleasure-givers, depending on how you interpret the whore's stories...) and the performances are pretty solid by all. George Payne stands out as usual as the type of bitch-humiliating psycho that he's typically so good at. The guy in the second story has some very classic lines as well. The one issue that I had with the film was unfortunately one that's kinda a big deal in these types of films...the sex itself. Other than a few BJs- most of the sex was almost soft-core in nature. There is some hardcore penetration to be seen-but from a film so blatantly filled with rough sex and rape themes-I would have hoped for a little more in the actual sex department. Due to this-I felt it necessary to drop TALES a few points. If the sex scenes would've been better-I could justify giving this one maybe an 8.5 and perhaps ranking it amongst some of the more notable genre entries. Unfortunately-although the story was hardcore-the sex just wasn't enough for my taste. Still-I'd definitely recommend this one to the XXX fans that like their story lines on the sleazy side. 7/10
