- TriviaIn his chapter on Yvonne De Carlo in "The Glamour Girls," James Robert Parish says that De Carlo sings in this short. She doesn't. The only one who sings in it is Alan Ladd. A viewing of this short on YouTube indicates that De Carlo isn't in it at all, but she does sing in another soundie, "The Lamp of Memory" (1942), also found on YouTube.

Alan Ladd Sings and Leads the Band
Alan Ladd was discovered by Sue Carol for his incredible voice in radio. And then she married him. In I Look At You, he is sweet and graceful. And at the very beginning of his career in film. He sings and leads Rita Rio's all-girl band while she dances around him. Nearly all of this approximately 1 minute & 30 second short is included in the Hollywood Collection's video of " Alan Ladd - The True Quiet Man". He also sings and sways with Dorothy Lamour in Variety Girl. Variety Girl stars Bob Hope & Bing Crosby and has many great performances. Next to Alan Ladd, my favorite performance is by Pearl Bailey. Soundies themselves have an interesting history with many famous actors and actresses singing for these movie jukeboxes.
