As most pilots are shot far in advance of the actual episodes of a show (should it get picked up) there are many differences to note from the pilot to the first episode, and later episodes of Beverly Hills, 90210. -the Walsh home is not the Spanish style house used in all future episodes. -Brandon's car is not the same car he drives from episode 1-2 on, and later crashes, when driving drunk. -Kelly's mom is portrayed by a different actress than in future episodes, and she refers to a man named Bob, who is not mentioned in the future. -of course, Brandon's hair is longer, and his later famous sideburns are missing in the pilot.
When Brandon is leaving the newspaper room, he has his backpack on his shoulder. There is a cut to Andrea welcoming him to the staff then a cut back to Brandon putting his backpack on his shoulder then exiting.
When Steve's Corvette rolled backwards out of the driveway, later in the episode David said it was because he wasn't used to driving a stick. But just prior to the accident, you could clearly see it was in Neutral and was an Automatic.
The Spanish teacher tells the class (in Spanish) to raise their hand if they didn't understand what she said. She then gets upset that no one did what she said. She should have asked them to raise their hands if they did understand her, not if they didn't. But this is the real beauty of it, it is a misunderstanding, just some lateral thinking required to latch on to the little joke.
