A funny, touching, and powerful film
Verbal-179 February 1999
This is a heartwarming, wonderful film about a 13 year-old girl named Juliana, who lives in poverty in Peru. Frustrated by her family, she pretends to be a boy and joins a group of young boys who perform music on the street for money. The group is led by Don Pedro, a man who exploits them for their own profit. Though the film's story is heartbreaking, it is presented as a funny, touching narrative of one girl trying to find herself and help save her friends from the man, and the world, that keeps them down. Similar to "My Life As A Dog," and just as good, if not better.

Peruvian City of god

If you liked City of God, then you'll definitely be enchanted by Juliana, a Peruvian movie that will captivate you from the very beginning. Set in Peru, the film tells the story of a young girl named Juliana, who struggles to survive in a world where youth gang violence is a constant threat. The movie portrays with rawness and realism the difficult reality that many young people face in Latin America, but it also shows the determination and courage of those who fight to overcome it.

The characters in the movie are well-developed, and the acting is outstanding, especially the lead actress, who manages to convey a great deal of emotion with her performance. The cinematography is impressive, with beautiful shots of the Peruvian landscape and excellent direction that maintains a steady pace throughout the film.

In summary, Juliana is a touching movie that will make you laugh, cry, and reflect on the situation of many young people in Latin America. If you liked City of God, then you should definitely watch this movie. Just watch it and judge for yourself.
