Tested the limits of soft core
rlcsljo22 April 2002
Warning: Spoilers
The movie is about the "eternal triangle" of a guy who loves a girl, but the girl loves another girl. He makes it his mission to "convert" her. Unlike most soft core films, this one is not just a stripped down hard core film. The girl caught in the middle actually has some real doubts about her feelings and we can almost feel her pain.

Two scenes stand out as going to the line of hard core, but just barely touching it. A man is shown with an erect penis and a girl obviously has a grip on it and she is giving a fellatio, but no oral genital contact is shown. In the second, she guides his erect penis into her vagina, but no contact or humping motions are shown. A very explicit lesbian shown with the labia in full view and being fondled.

Awful 70's Half Lesbian Half Straight Porn With Terrible Quality
FilmMan4724 April 2015
Warning: Spoilers
this early 70's flick the love garden directed by Mark Haggard is awful to put it simply in words since it came out decades ago i wont argue and say the film was shot badly not at all most of the old films look great in but its the film transfer i am talking about it looks horrible the picture quality is terrible VHS Or DVD just don't bother buying this crap & avoid it at all costs.

talk about the story well its about a handsome hunk who wants to get laid with a girl he likes but can't do so as she likes another girl so there is a lesbian angle going on soon enough he does manage to get her into his bed for a while and makes love to her.

there is a lot of dialog worth skipping it is meaningless the lesbian scenes are the only scenes worth looking here now just when the guy and the girl having sex its is shot badly with no use of light so there is nothing much to see here except few kissing scenes that's about it and who can forget the zero chemistry between actors there should be some passion in those love making scenes which lacks here the most.

this is not even a proper film that holds on to one genre this is some low grade porn its made by some amateur who was desperate for the hot scenes the boom of soft core and hardcore came in 90s but this is 70's we are talking about some people may like this film but i am not one of those i am sorry i hated it this film proves erotic films were awful in 70's & 80's its the 90s that made everything looked good.

the whole project is so boring but women here are nice though.

Overall The Love Garden 1971 is a film any real soft core genre fan will fail to enjoy it my rating is 2/10:Skipp It

Pretty good, if morally dubious soft-core melodrama
Woodyanders26 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
Hunky writer Mike (Jason Yukon, who sports massive sideburns and an equally huge white guy Afro) becomes obsessed with comely new neighbor Clare (a charming portrayal by the attractive Linda York). Although Mike discovers that Clare is involved in a lesbian relationship with the beautiful Inez (a fine and credible performance by ravishing long-haired brunette Barbara Mills), he nonetheless is still determined to win Clare over. Writer/director Mark Haggard maintains a steady pace throughout, grounds the story in a plausible everyday reality, and manages to write dialogue that sounds authentic. A lengthy Sapphic session between Clare and Inez proves to be scorching hot stuff while the lovemaking between Mike and Clare is both tender and erotic. York and Yukon do acceptable work in their roles. Moreover, this film makes for a nice showcase for underrated 70's skin flick regular Mills, who not only radiates a cool sensuality and has a captivating screen presence, but also was a real capable actress as well. Douglas Knapp's fairly polished cinematography offers a few pretty visuals. Guy Guilbert's gentle melodic score does the harmonic trick. This movie earns extra points for its surprising downbeat conclusion. Unfortunately, this picture gives off a genuinely creepy vibe due to its questionable sexual politics, with the rather distasteful premise of masculine potency possessing the magical ability to possibly turn a gay woman straight. That aside, this one overall sizes up as a solid 70's adults only outing.
