Cher, Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Lily Tomlin, and Joan Plowright in Tea with Mussolini (1999)

Goofs

Tea with Mussolini

Edit

Continuity

Elsa has cried her make up off and her hair is a mess right before she escapes. Then when she is waiting to meet the boat to take her to her freedom she is well coiffed and her face is beautifully made up. Her eyes are no longer red from crying.

Factual errors

The tanks the Germans ride in are, in fact, U.S. Army M4 Shermans, not German-built Panzers.
The breaking news radio announcement reporting the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor also included information about President Roosevelt's speech the next day and the subsequent US declaration of war against Germany, Japan, and Italy. In effect it was a summary of two days' events and wouldn't be a breaking news announcement.
The British major is wearing his rank insignia on his collar. British officers did not wear insignia on their collars, it was never part of their uniform. In fact, in combat zones, even US officers usually covered up their collar insignia, to avoid being recognised as officers and therefore targets for snipers.

Revealing mistakes

The ladies protect the frescoes by building a wall around them using sandbags. But the bags are obviously filled with something light and fluffy, such as kapok or cotton.

Miscellaneous

At 1:42:00 the column of British tanks, the next frame of German anti tank crews in the forest and their surrender at 1:44:32, are from A Bridge Too Far (1977) A Bridge Too Far (1977)

Anachronisms

Elsa is referred to as "a Jew". Until long after World War II, a female Jew in Europe was referred to as "a Jewess".
