Goofs

One True Thing

Edit

Continuity

In some birthday-party scenes, daylight is visible through some windows, and lighting on the staircase suggests daylight, although the action is supposed to be at night, and other windows show darkness outdoors.
Ellen's nightdress changes between shots when she answers the phone in bed.

Revealing mistakes

In the scene where Ellen is working at midnight and Harold calls, the scene is shown in reverse. The titles on the book spines and the notes on the board are backwards.
In one of the first flashback scenes, the Gulden family is driving in their car with the transmission lever plainly in the "Park" position.

Anachronisms

The story takes place in 1988 but many of the hairstyles and automobiles are '90s style.
