Jennifer Lopez and Sean Penn in U Turn (1997)

Goofs

U Turn

Edit

Continuity

When Bobby calls Grace, the facing card she has in her left hand changes from a deuce to a Queen.

She absently shuffled the cards as she was talking on the phone.
On the ledge, Bobby is walking up behind Grace, then he's beside, then again he's walking toward her from behind.

Factual errors

Not only is there a visible line attached to the vulture's leg in one scene, this vulture and all vultures shown in the movie are of a species that does not exist in the United States.

There are a lot of those vultures flying around for a bird that doesn't live there. California condors were re-introduced in the wild in 1996.
The way Bobby landed when pushed off the ledge by Grace, fractured his left leg (it is backwards). He then managed to climb back up the cliff, which would have been almost impossible.

Even though he claimed a broken leg and posed to make it look wonky, that was a ploy to get Grace to come down to him. He wasn't paralyzed either when he said he was.

Revealing mistakes

Near the first of the movie, where Cooper's car passes a vulture eviscerating a dead animal, the vulture has a leg ring with an attached band.
Marker is visible during the scene where the men have cornered Bobby in the alley.

Miscellaneous

When Grace lands the axe in Jake's back, there is no blood.
Towards the end, some birds can be seen toward a grey and cloudy sky. In the next shot, the sun is shining.

The clouds parted and the Sun shone through. A totally normal occurrence.
How would Bobby have Grace's home phone number and Darrell's home address?

Jake told him or he used the phone book.
When Bobby is speaking with the blind man, between scenes Bobby produces a lit cigarette which he is not shown lighting or removing from the pack.

Not every tiny movement is filmed. Or included in the final cut.
When Grace stabs Jake with the ax, it's not more than maybe an inch deep in Jake's back. It would likely have fallen out after a couple seconds.

Likelihoods are not Factual errors.

Crew or equipment visible

Towards the very end, the camera and crew are reflected in an extreme close-up of Grace's eyes.
Shadow of boom, platform and cameraman visible at lower left hand of aerial view of intersection at beginning of movie right after Cooper's radiator hose blows.
When Bobby calls out to Grace to help him, as the camera pans on Grace in the car's driver seat, the reflection of a fan can be seen on the front side of the car.

Character error

The blind man tells Bobby that he had acid poured on his eyes. His pupils are clouded as if by cataracts. Acid would not cloud his eyes, but burn them extensively and destroy them.

Depending, of course, on what acid. Perhaps it was both. At 01:25:05, he lifts his glasses to look in his coin cup. Acid on the lids and cataracts on the pupils. It was a credible makeup effort.
