Northern British Computer factory employees Jackie and Dawn are best friends and in-laws. Their long-time friendship is soon shattered when Dawn collapses and Dawn is diagnosed with a terminal brain tumour. After abandoning her husband Dave and running off with her secret lover Paul who dumps her, Jackie wins $100,000 in a game of Bingo and decides to share the prize money with Dawn. After quitting her job, Jackie decides to fulfil Dawn's dream to go to Las Vegas and buys two tickets and they travel together to Las Vegas to make the final days of Dawn's life magical. In Las Vegas, Jackie and Dawn meet Cody, a mysterious cowboy in his early 60s and Cody takes Jackie and Dawn out to see the Nevada desert and Jackie develops romantic feelings for Cody. Returning to England, Jackie apologizes to Dave who has moved on and started seeing another woman and Dawn succumbs to her brain tumour. With her best friend gone, her husband with another woman and no job, Jackie decides to go back to Las Vegas and to be with Cody.
