Continuity

When the Yoders are negotiating with the real-estate brokers, it is raining outside. In the next shot, there is no rain, and when they step outside, there is no evidence that it had ever rained.
When the inspector gets into the IRS guy's car, his seatbelt repeatedly disappears/reappears between shots.
Blonde streaks in Kirstie Alley's bangs come and go.
In the party scene where Emma says to Levinia, "They're all dressed alike..." Levinia holds a cookie in her hand. The cookie jumps from her hand to baby Sam's hand numerous times between shots while they are talking.
At the anniversary party, when Mary says, "...even if it isn't Moi," Cynthia's hand that's holding the cigarette is resting on her champagne glass. In the next shot, it's in the air, then again it rests on the glass.

Factual errors

The film depicts the Amish community holding a barn dance. The Amish do not dance; it is considered secular and therefore sinful. The Amish also never use musical instruments; only their voices.
It is said they are hiding out at the Yoders' because Amish don't pay taxes, when in fact they pay all but social security.
The Amish would never hold a wedding outside. They take place in the bride's parents' home.

Errors in geography

When Bob is talking on the cell phone to Brad and getting into a cab, the Washington Monument is visible in Baltimore's Mt. Vernon Square, when he's supposed to be in New York.
When the IRS agents are putting up posters of Brad and Caroline in the village, a road sign depicting Maryland route 27 can be seen in the background.
