Black Thunder (1998)

Goofs

Black Thunder

Continuity

The number of missiles in the on-screen display of the planes, is inconsistent. The same switch-covers are opened multiple times during chase sequences.

Factual errors

When "Blue One" gets into trouble on his way back from the test, he calls in "Flame out! We just lost both our engines". We've previously established that the test aircraft were F16s, so the "we" in this case would be just him, as the F16 is single-seat, plus, it has just the one engine.
When the pilots are discussing the SR-71, they mention 'the usual weapons.' The SR-71 never carried weapons; its construction was too light to support them, and the plane went so fast that they'd be hundreds of miles away from its target by the time it fired. The SR-71 was the best reconnaissance aircraft ever made, superseded only by satellite intelligence, but it was completely unarmed.
After being ordered to launch his strike aircraft, we see a flight of F/A-18 Hornets launch from the carrier. Maybe there's also a supporting flight of F-14 Tomcats we didn't see. But the flight of aircraft we later follow as they approach to make the strike on the airbase are F-16 Falcons - never a carrier-operated aircraft.
The sound of gunfire is the same for all kinds of guns, either it is a handgun or an assault rifle.
The officer white uniforms are shown with collar devices and shoulder boards to display rank, collar devices are used on the khaki uniform not the white. The white uniform should have rank on the shoulder boards only.
