Filmed for a theatrical release, but made its premiere on HBO due to financial issues surrounding the film's distributor, Savoy Pictures. Additionally, the film was never released on home video in the United States.
In October 1994 Howard Stern discussed visiting the set of this movie since it was made by Rysher Entertainment, who were in the beginning stages of making his movie, Private Parts. He described the director as having "a shock of gray hair" and he mentioned she wrote Flashdance and is now directing Jennifer Beals, and that Patrick Stewart was in it. He joked, "I could have played Patrick Stewart's part.; I would have done a better job." He complimented the direction of the dance sequences and choreography.
