Liv Tyler, Renée Zellweger, Robin Tunney, Rory Cochrane, Ethan Embry, and Johnny Whitworth in Empire Records (1995)

Goofs

Empire Records

Edit

Continuity

AJ removes his shirt during the close-up in-store dancing scene. The long shot shows it back on, and then another close shot shows it off.
In the very first shot of the movie, we see all of the band's equipment already set up on the roof, even though later they are seen hauling it all up there before the big midnight show.
Deb's nose ring changes sides.
When Lucas is in the casino at the craps table, after winning the first roll, he picks up the dice and then goes into his "save the empire" speech. After stating he would buy the table a drink if he wins again, the table attendant pushes the dice over to him.
When Deb and A.J. are dancing to "Say No More Mon Amour", following Corey's incident with Rex, Deb takes A.J. shirt off, however it appears back on him in two shots before disappearing again.

Factual errors

When Lucas is gambling in the Atlantic City Casino he is betting cash. Cash does not play in Atlantic City, only chips are allowed for table games.
When Lucas walks up to the craps table the stick man says, "Craps, end of roll, new roller," but a 3 was the last roll. The shooter's turn would only end if he/she had rolled a 7 after the point was established. A shooter's turn would never end on a rolled 3.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

When Mark is watching Gwar on TV and imagines himself in the video, the song playing is labeled as "Saddam A Go Go" and when the scene switches to fill the screen the title is changed to "Sadam A Go Go". This could just be a flourish of his imagination.

Revealing mistakes

When Lucas leaves the couch, he takes a cushion with him, once he returns with the shoplifter, the cushion is back on the couch.
When Warren is being escorted out of the back room by the police, the back of the t.v. monitors showing Rex Manning's video are clearly seen not connected to anything.
When Joe opens the safe in his office he only uses 2 digits. All vault locks take 3 or more. Plus the 2 digits were very close together, not even getting a full revolution of the lock.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

During the rave, Berko points to Gina and tells her to take the lead and sing the song. He can be heard playing a guitar chord although he is still pointing at Gina.

Errors in geography

A labor flyer for North Carolina (the filming location) is seen on the bulletin board in the back room by the time clock. The store is located in New Jersey.

Character error

In the end credits, when Eddie and Mark are talking about bands, they discuss Henry Rollins. Eddie incorrectly credits Henry Rollins as the lead singer for The Misfits. Rollins was the lead for Black Flag. Glenn Danzig was the lead for the Misfits.
When Rex is signing autographs one of the women says she has seen every episode of his show "The Family Life." When every other character throughout the movie refers to the show as "The Family Way"
AJ misidentifies the Japanese character Miyagi-san from The Karate Kid (1984) as being Chinese.
Lucas rides a motorcycle in Atlantic City, NJ where there is a mandatory helmet law, yet Lucas rides without one.
