At the end of World War II, Ah-Dee, who fought under Japanese command, returns to the mountains of central Taiwan.

At the end of World War II, Ah-Dee, who fought under Japanese command, returns to the mountains of central Taiwan and resumes his activities as a bamboo farmer. Traumatized by the war, he is unable to marry but adopts a son named Spring, and later on, a young woman, Tangerine, for her to become his wife.
