As generic as the title suggests

The first thing you will notice about "Deadly Attraction"....er, I mean "Lethal Seduction", is its extremely low production values. Shot on video, with sound that's sometimes out-of-synch and sometimes drowned by too much background noise, the film looks like an amateur production. This impression is enhanced by the unknown and obviously inexperienced actors picked for most of the minor roles, as well as the poorly staged gunfights. But I think the main problem with "Dangerous Obsession"....er, I mean "Lethal Seduction" is that the script has too many characters, and none of them is compelling enough to hold the movie. Christopher Mitchum is decent but dull as the lead. Julie Strain appears a few times and does her (naked) thing (it's funny how she towers over her partner-in-bed David Michie!), but it's all strictly by-the-numbers. You can skip this one. * out of 4.

Silly, overly complex sex exploitation film...
dwpollar28 September 2001
1st watched 9/28/2001 - 2 out of 10(Dir-Fred P. Watkins): Silly, overly complex sex exploitation film with a little crime-drama thrown in to get their ‘R' rating. These type of movies are a dime-a-dozen and are obviously made to make money off of the male sex drive. With little known relatives of well-knowns(Aka. Christopher Mitchum & Joe Estevez) to pull in other suckers who may not know the difference between them and their well-known relatives(oh please!!). The only way to stop these movies from being made is to not rent or buy them. Guess what, I fell into their trap and rented this one.(Please don't follow my lead…)

A Good Low Budget Film
jdd3221-220-6213682 March 2013
I was the executive producer of this film, and I did some of the producing as well. Thus, I know most of the facts of how it was made.

First, it was shot on film, since super video was not yet available to us.

Second, Julie Strain did indeed get the chance to act, in addition to showing off her beautiful body. She did a good job, and I still appreciate her pleasant personality and her cooperative attitude.

Third, the film was shot entirely on location. There were no studio shots at all. The apartment used by the main character for his rendezvous with Julie was an actual apartment in a local apartment complex. The shootout between cops and crooks was shot in a large building on the local fairgrounds. The police detectives office was in the actual police detectives building in downtown Denton. The morgue scene was filmed in an actual morgue room in a local hospital. The final shootout in the hospital was shot in that same hospital. That part of the hospital was closed because new hospitals were opening in the area.

Fourth, we used a firearms expert for those shots involving actual guns, and safety rules were strictly followed.

Fifth, much of the behind the scenes work was done by volunteers from the RTVF department of the University of North Texas.

Sixth, the actual cost of the film was about $200,000, not $500,000. It only recouped about half of that cost.

Seventh, much of the cast did a decent job of acting, especially considering the low budget nature of the film. Joe Estevez was quite good, and his over-the-top scenes were intentional, especially the ones involving members of his movie family.

Last, although I lost money on this film, I enjoyed the experience a great deal. I learned a lot about making films. That knowledge has helped me in my research into the history of Hollywood films.

A fun time
filmguytx8 December 2001
I had seen this film when it first came out on video and then my local store had the new DVD so I rented it. I had a fun time!!!! Julie Strain plays a role and plays it in a manner that is so different from her other roles that it was a pleasant surprise. There is some interesting action and some great "r" sex with Juile and Joette. You can see the director's sense of humor like in the casting. For the main guy photographer (David Michie) he chose a short actor. So when Julie Strain Character is hitting on him you are wondering why would a good looking tall lady like her hit on this guy...then later in some above avg writing for these kind of flixs, we find out. Chris Mitchum use to play in a lot of low budget films and he is not the personality his dad was but never the less some people put him. Joe Estevez was a pleasant suprise as he could do some acting. All in all I mean hey when you can see Juile Strain at her prime what is there to complain about...the direction and the cinematography and the music score put this film above the usually pack of low budget T&A films. Also there is a neat interview with Julie Strain and one with the Director.. thumbs up

At last a film that delivers the cover's promise!
heatherredhot22 March 2002
I watch a lot of movies and I watch a lot of films in the seduction thiller genre. Most do not deliver an interesting story, lit so bad you can't see the actors and goofy 'r" rated sex scenes. I have rented this DVD twice in the last 3 months. It has a very interesting plot with several twists like you don't know who the killer is until the end - though the director and the writer lead you to think you do. Julie Strain, veteran 'b' movie queen does a pretty good job of acting. I have seen her in some other things and this is the first time I think I felt she was a good actress she's usually just flexing her muscles and popping her top but here she delivers lines and has expression as well. Chris Mitchum doesn't have the abilities of his father and lacks some expression. Joe Estevez has some pretty good moments though he gets alittle over the top toward the end. Liked the blonde Joette Rhodes a lot very pretty and sexy as well. Enjoyed the commentary by the director who seems like a nice guy. There is also a silly documentary with Julie that I guess some guys would like. The plot gets a little slowed down by the sex scenes but that goes with the genre. The guy from Washington who trashed this film I mean gezz what did you expected to see when they got Julie Strain spread legged on the cover? Come on guy, it was pretty good for this type of film..I was expecting worse but had a pretty good time lots of "tongue in cheek" humor. You ought to see just for the humor of Julie paired with the "romantic lead".
