At a party back home, Bones tells then girlfriend that "he" (his penis) hadn't seen her in 8 weeks, yet he's apparently fully trained in water purification. After 8 weeks of basic training, an additional 10 weeks of training is required to become a Water Treatment Specialist (the official MOS title).
When Bones fires the AT4 near the end of the movie, what comes out is a rocket, exhibited by the smoke trail behind the projectile. The AT4 is a non-recoiling smooth-bore launcher. All propulsion is provided by the charge in the tube, similar to a normal firearm. It has no rocket motor, and hence no smoke trail.

When Bones and Jack first arrive at boot camp and meet the drill sergeant, as Jack is dragged off the bus and Bones incorrectly calls the drill sergeant "sir" and begins laughing, you can see that he was genuinely laughing at Jack being dragged off the bus. The drill sergeant then breaks character and you can see her eyes widen and her cheeks puff as she holds in a laugh.
