Aspen Extreme (1993)

Goofs

Aspen Extreme

Edit

Continuity

During the final Powder 8 scene, the bases of TJ's and Todd's skis alternate between two different designs.
When TJ is getting chased by ski patrol his hat falls off and he leaves it behind. In the next clip, he is skiing with the hat on.
At 41 minutes when T.J. and Dexter are doing their downhill run, they can be seen skiing over the same snow ledge twice.
William Russ is operating a Prinoth snowcat, which has joystick controls and has damage to the body behind the driver door, when he stops and offers a ride to TJ and Dex. In the following scene the snowcat in use is a Pistenbully, which has no visible body damage and uses a steering wheel for controls.

Factual errors

Dex and TJ are discussing the time they went to Mackinack Island and Dex complains that TJ got the beautiful girl and he got to sleep in the car. Both actors mispronounced Mackinack as mack-i-nack, when it is actually pronounced mack-i-naw. There is also no way Dex slept in the car - motorized vehicles are not allowed on the island.

Revealing mistakes

T.J. and Dex's entry numbers at the beginning of the Aspen Ski Instructor hiring clinic start out as 31 (T.J.) and 32 (Dex), then change to 36 (T.J.) and 38 (Dex) as they begin to perform aerials on the moguls, then change back to 31 and 32 as they finish.
When Dex and T.J. walks up the mountain the second time, one can clearly see the drop-off point from the helicopter trip when the camera pans around the mountain.
When T.J. punches Franz, Karl can be seen in the background. However, immediately following the scuffle, Karl is seen walking into the ski school locker room.

Errors in geography

Every time TJ and Dexter venture into the backcountry, they are transported to the Coast Range of British Columbia. This includes the Powder 8 Championships. TJ's fall into a crevasse is especially unlikely given that there is no glaciated terrain in Colorado.
When the two arrive in Aspen from Detroit, they have the scenic Maroon Bells behind them. The road behind them doesn't go to Detroit, it continues for about a mile and ends at the Maroon Bells Wilderness. They would have been looking at a bunch of trees. Also, the road has a bunch of snow on it but in the next scene, where they show Ajax, there's no snow on the road.
