One of the best TV movies ever made!

Warning: Spoilers
Normally, I avoid TV movies like the plague. A friend saw the DVD going for a bargain price and bought one for himself and one for me. I didn't thank him. I hate TV movies, but this one turns out to be a most welcome exception to the rule. It's really, really good. In fact, that's too lame a description. It's brilliant! First class! Dinah Manoff, in collaboration with Les Alexander and Don Enright, has dome wonders to the original script by Andrew Smith. And not only do Manoff and Nell Carter excel in their starring roles, but Paul Schneider turns in a really first-rate display of sensitive, well-timed direction. True, watching the movie on TV, would probably be a bit of a let-down, but on the Universal DVD, 93 engrossing minutes fly by with a welcome rapidity. Production values are also remarkably first-class by TV standards.
