This was the first fully-animated film rated PG-13 upon release. Cool World (1992), released three weeks earlier, was also rated PG-13, but it was a live action/animation hybrid. The Plague Dogs (1982) was PG upon its release, but the MPAA revised that to PG-13 after the rating was introduced in 1984.
As the parking lot cop approaches Robin's car, the license includes the letters BWS. It stands for Bruce W. Smith, director of this movie.
Some versions of the film's theatrical trailer contain audio problems for the last few seconds, which actually cuts off the last couple words of the tagline that the announcer says. The original tagline is, "It's animation, with an attitude." However, the trailer with audio problems makes it seem like the announcer only says, "It's animation--"
In the ladies room, Robin says, "Look who's with here. Old Vivian, with them old skippies with the broke-down back. Gimme a break!" Nell Carter, the voice of Vivian, was the star of Gimme a Break! (1981).
