Goofs

Suburban Commando

Edit

Continuity

When Charlie accidentally fires Ramsey's phaser gun, he looks through the hole in the wall and the neighbor's red funny car is shown engulfed in flames. But the next day when he comes home from work, the guys are working on it in their driveway as if nothing happened to it, and the car appears to be unharmed.
The Ford logo on the red festiva front grille comes and goes throughout the movie. Example: When they go to stop the robbers with the ice gun the logo is on the car, but prior to Hulk picking up the drag car it is not.

Factual errors

The game Ramsey and the kid play in the arcade is Afterburner, a jet combat game that contains no aliens, phasers, photons, anyone named Dragos or anything science fiction related.

Revealing mistakes

When Shep jumps in the air and lands on a skate board the following long shot clearly shows him to be standing on some sort of a platform supported by three large wheels.
At the beginning of the movie when General Suitor's ship explodes, a portion of the green screen on which the miniature ship was placed is visible for a split second.

Crew or equipment visible

Soon after Shep moves in, he comes into the dining room holding up Charlie's two kids by the back of their shirts, and he proceeds to drop them to the ground at the request of their mom. The boy then turns to the side and you can see the handle on the back of his shirt that Shep was using to hold him.
When Shep flips the car that almost ran down Charlie's boy, he spins the car around as they walk away. You can clearly see the circular base that the car is resting and spinning on.
When the bank robber shoots Shep with the freeze gun, you can see the hose the gun is attached to.

Plot holes

Shep was somehow able to locate the apartment for rent by a single poster several blocks away, with the vaguest directions possible. It simply says, "Apartment for rent" accompanied by an arrow pointing in the general direction.

Character error

Whilst entertaining the Japanese businessmen, Beltz mentions that Nick Adams was in Rodan. This is untrue. Although the US version of Rodan was dubbed and featured some World War II stock footage at the beginning, there we no new scenes shot using American actors as with Godzilla, and certainly nothing involving Nick Adams.
At least once, Shelley Duvall's character is referred to as 'Shelley' rather than 'Jenny' in the film.
