Lovers Tear is one of those hard to get Hong Kong films that you need to see as a fan of the amazing, Sammo Hung.
But upon watching this underrated gem, you soon find out that Mr. Hung plays nothing more than a smaller supporting role (as well as producer) and a young, but always impressive, Colin Chou (Ngai Sing) takes the lead.
Playing a cop, Colin gets caught up in some dirty dealings which sees him head to mainland China with witness Nina Li Chi, a deaf girl who he falls in love with.
As the story moves on, and without giving away too many things, we soon meet the amazing Lam Chin Ying and Elvis Tsui, and the action kicks off!
Action choreographer and star Lam Chin Ying has opted for a more realistic style of action which most definitely suits this film. Heavy on the drama, and not shy of some lump in the throat moments, Lovers Tear is a gritty underrated gem that is worthy of a watch.
