A unique action-ghost-comedy!
OllieSuave-00720 January 2016
This is actually a pretty good Hong Kong action-horror-comedy starring Sammo Hung has a triad leader whose subordinate, Chiu (Shui-Wah Fok) tries to help a woman, Helen (Fennie Yuen), deal with her debt problems. Helen attempts suicide while two ghosts wait to take her body for resurrection. However, Chiu rescues Helen and, as a result, the ghosts, angry that they couldn't resurrect, take revenge on the gang.

This movie has a fast-paced plot from start to finish, and you get everything from suspenseful triad drama to the creepy ghost elements, all mixed in with some classic Hong Kong humor. As with many Sammo Hung movies, there is also a good does of martial arts action and good guy vs. bad guy themes - at both the human and ghost levels. Just the parts where the ghosts' past somehow interconnect with the triad provide intrigue and thrills, blending in the action-drama-ghost-humor plot elements well and helped by decent acting from the cast of actors.

There are some of those moments where you feel some of the antagonistic characters should have gotten more of a taste of their own medicine, but overall, it's a good, entertaining film - not the more cliché ghost comedies you've come to expect from Hong Kong. This movie's story is something unique and refreshing.
