When several of the European characters leave the Mbantua settlement to take a group photo, believing the adventure to be over, the voice-over mentions that it's February, 2000. Yet shortly after, as Henry Farber is trying a new series of experiments on recording dream imagery, a computer display for the current experiment shows January 21.

When Bert is shown as the guitarist in Chico's impromptu band for the first time, he hands the guitar to the green-shirted man on the bridge while the rest of the band keeps playing. But when the scene cuts to a different angle, Bert is still playing the guitar.

As the group are celebrating the news over the radio that the satellite explosion happened in space, therefore not affecting life on Earth, the narrator implies that January 2000 will be the beginning of the new millennium. However, December 31 2000 was the end of the millennium (and the 20th Century) and January 1 2001 was the beginning of both the 21st Century and the new millennium.
