This was somewhat of a confusing mess...

"Beyond's Diary" (aka "Beyond ri ji zhi mo qi shao nian qiong") is not much of a memorable movie actually. I had never heard about the movie's existence, prior to stumbling upon it here late in 2019.

I do love the Hong Kong cinema, and thus it took no convincing of me to make me sit down and watch this 1991 movie from director Francis Sung.

Turns out that the storyline told in "Beyond's Diary" was somewhat of a scrambled mess. There simply was too many stories being told all at once, which made it hard to keep track with the different characters and storylines. At a point, I just gave up trying to keep track and just watched the story unfold on the screen.

The acting in the movie was adequate, but it was suffering from the storyline being a bit too complex, and from having writers Roman Cheung and Vincent Kok setting out to want to accomplish a little bit too much, especially when director Francis Sung wasn't fully able to deliver a comprehensive movie.

While "Beyond's Diary" is somewhat watchable, it was just too much to keep up with, and that means that I am rating the movie four out of ten stars. This is hardly an outstanding or memorable movie from the 1990s Hong Kong cinema. Nor is it hardly a movie that I will be returning to watch a second time around.
