After Jim Hawkins cuts the anchor line on the Hispaniola, the vessel is seen underway to the North Inlet where he intends to beach it. Both anchors are still in place at the bow of the ship.
John Silver's band of pirates haul a small cannon ashore to attack the captain and his crew in the stockade. During the skirmish, several large holes are blown into the walls and roof of the stockade. A few scenes later, exterior shots show no evidence of damage.
Around 01:08:44, Redruth is lying down with his open shirt only. Around 01:08:48, he's got a bandage on his chest.
When the loyals are transporting the treasure to the Hispaniola, Ben Gunn falls down the scuttle carrying a sack of coins. When Silver bends to pick one up, the parrot is seen on his shoulder. In the close-up immediately after this, the parrot is gone.
During the scene where Flint's men are attacking the inn, Mrs. Hawkins is carrying a candlestick... with an electric cord running from it.
Just after going ashore on "treasure island" Long John Silver engages in a knife fight with a young man named "Tom". During the fight Silver's knife blade bends against the ground in a very rubbery prop knife like way.
When Jim sails the Hispaniola, the boat heels over, the engine cooling water can be seen exhausting.
When Jim grounds the ship, it is about 30 yards from land. He then gets in a fight with a pirate on board and kills him. When he then dives into the ocean to swim to shore, the ship is now 2-300 yards from where it was grounded.
When Tom dies, the doctor puts his hand up to Tom's eyes to close them. But as he closes them, Tom quite visibly moves, flinching his face.
At one point in the battle the pirate's cannon fires and there are two explosions. The first explodes against the side of the dwelling. The second explodes almost immediately after the first on the ground in front of the dwelling. This artillery piece could not have fire again that quickly, and only one gun had been ashore and hauled up the hillside for the battle.
After the treasure is recovered and the ship is on course for home, Silver threatens Gunn with a knife to insure Gunn's help in escaping. The knife is obviously a Bowie style. No specific date for the story gets mentioned, but characters speak of participating in events of the mid-18th Century, placing this story several decades before Bowie designed his knife about 1830.
The film is set in the1700s, but all the swords are 1845 pattern Naval cutlasses.
One pirate sticks his head out of a hatch. The captain yells and takes a shot at him. The next shot of the hatch shows that it is closed and you can see a shiny stainless steel padlock hasp on the side of the hatch. Not something that you would see on a ship from the mid 1700s.
When the loyals are transporting the treasure to the Hispaniola, Ben Gunn at one point is heard to say "Haul aweigh, sir!" but he is clearly seen to say something else.
During a close-up of the Admiral Benbow Inn sign, electric wires can be seen on the wall behind.
When Billy Bones disembarks from the small boat during the opening credits, a white, modern dinghy can be seen against the harbor wall behind.
When Ben Gunn attempts to spook the pirates as they search for the treasure he uses the words of Flint; "Darby McGraw, Darby McGraw; fetch aft the Rum, Darby" and one of the pirates confirmed these were Flint's last words. How did Gunn KNOW these were Flints last words if he was marooned by the captain several years before his death? This is possibly a hole created by a plot change, as in the original book Gunn is marooned by a different crew, presumably after Flint's death.
However, this could hole could be explained by the honest sailor, Gray, hearing tales of Flint during the passage to Treasure Island, and relayed the information to Ben upon meeting him on the island.
When the pirates climb the hill to start their treasure hunt George Merry is seen hacking away at undergrowth with a sword or machete. However it's quite comical as there is no need to do this. These are just small weeds and grasses which present no hindrance to their forward progress. It's possible he's trying to scare off snakes. And when the doctor and Hunter initially approach the stockade in an earlier scene Hunter does the same thing, hacking away at small undergrowth and palm fronds which they could easily walk right through.
