The Plot to Kill Hitler (1990)

Goofs

The Plot to Kill Hitler

Edit

Factual errors

The field cap worn by Stauffenberg in North Africa at the beginning of the movie has two metal insignia pinned to the front. Actual caps had cloth sew-on insignia. Also, Stauffenberg wears a neatly knotted tie, but ties were not worn by German troops anywhere in the front lines, especially in the heat of the North African desert.
After Stauffenberg loses an eye and a hand in North Africa, he is shown wearing the Black or Silver Wound Badge on his uniform. He should be wearing the Gold Wound Badge, which was awarded for very serious wounds such as his.
During the secret nighttime meeting between Field Marshal Rommel and Stauffenberg, a Close Combat Clasp can be seen on Rommel's uniform. In actuality, Rommel did not receive that award.

Anachronisms

In the scenes that take place during 1945, the Army helmets have a decal on each side. In reality, helmet decals were discontinued by the Army in 1943.
Stauffenberg's two young sons have hairstyles that are much too long for the World War II era.
Klaus says to his children, "I think we'll have a game of soccer." The Germans would not have used the American word interpreted into English "soccer". They would have used the German word interpreted from "football" i.e.Fußball.
