Richard Gere, Andy Garcia, and Nancy Travis in Internal Affairs (1990)

Goofs

Internal Affairs

Edit

Continuity

The first time Avila is following Peck, Peck is in his Corvette convertible with the hardtop on. After driving for several miles, the top is gone. Corvette hardtops do not fold down and there is no room to carry them on the car unless they are in place.
While Peck is meeting with Steven and Tova Arrocas, he places his right hand on the knee/leg of Tova Arrocas under the table and out of sight of Steven Arrocas. Shortly thereafter, from behind Peck is shown taking a sip of his drink with his right hand, when only his left hand would be available.
Amy (Laurie Metcalf') introduces herself as a Senior Detective and a Sergeant to Raymond's (Andy Garcia's) Detective but at the funeral their dress uniforms show them to hold the same rank.
About halfway through the movie, Dennis is waiting for Raymond outside his office. They have a conversation. Dennis crosses his arms, and keeps them crossed for the wide shot. When the camera cuts back to the two-shot, Dennis is now just holding his hands together.
At about 23:14, Raymond and Amy are sitting in a yellow car watching a woman with a dog walk by. Amy is in the driver's seat (camera angle from passenger seat) holding a paper Pepsi cup with full logo showing. She chews on the straw. Next shot is from driver's side with no time for her to turn the cup, but there are now 2 partial Pepsi logos showing. The cup has obviously turned about a quarter of a turn. Even the straw, in relation to the logos has moved.

Revealing mistakes

The hearse that is supposedly carrying Van Stretch's body to the cemetery is obviously empty.

Audio/visual unsynchronised

At the 10:40 minute mark Gere's lip movement does not coincide with the audio.
