How I Got Into College (1989)

Goofs

How I Got Into College

Edit

Continuity

In the shot of the acceptance letters being printed, some are dated "1988" and others "1989".
Thinking that she's blown the interview, Jessica rips open her shirts and runs out of the office holding her shirt closed with Marlon only a few seconds behind her, but when he catches up to her, the shirt is perfectly buttoned up although she had no time to button up.
Leo's hair is already wet when the elephant sprays him with water, but it was dry in the preceding shot.
Jessica meets with Kip Hammett for a second interview the day after her first interview with Mr. Flutter, yet both she and Kip are wearing the same clothes they had been wearing the previous day.

Factual errors

During the road trip to the Ramsey to drop off Jessica's application, Marlon states that the distance to the college is 450 miles. He then asks Jessica to do some math. All the math Jessica does incorrectly uses a distance of 350 miles. They would never have gotten there on time with their planned speed of 60mph.
The red mailbox flag alerts the carrier to outgoing mail. The carrier would have accepted the outgoing mail and lowered the flag. The flag is still up with only incoming mail left in the mailbox.

Miscellaneous

Jessica Kailo's house number is 227, but her mailbox says 717.

Crew or equipment visible

Errors in geography

The school where Ronny "Surehands" is being recruited is supposed to be located in Detroit, Michigan, but New York City's Empire State Building can be clearly seen in the distance behind the school.

Character error

Duane Davis is credited as "Ronny Rawlson", but is called "Ronny Pawlson" several times throughout the film.
