An intriguing start.

Life is turned upside down for Robert and his mother, after collecting her and taking her to his home, she discovers his new partner, dead. Reg instantly believes Robert is guilty.

Its a very solid start, instantly you're wondering how Robert did it, when it seems impossible that he could have, maybe other suspects will appear. Tom Wilkinson was great in this opener as the grief stricken husband, Margery Mason I thought was terrific as his sour faced mother.

An intriguing start, I love the eighties cars, clothes and decor,.seems like another world. The pacing may be slow for some, but if intrigue is your thing, you'll really enjoy it. 8/10

A kind of loving

It's not probably. 10 in reality but it is the final screen appearances by one of my favourites actresses, June Ritchie. I watched the 3 episodes as an omnibus so I am not sure where each part ends. In my opinion, it is the best story yet and a bit different to before as Wexford believes he has his man from the outset and nearly loses his job tracking him down. A good twist in the tail in part 3. I do feel that if made now then it would be tighter and less wordy and shown as a one of two hour show but a good watch even if it is just to save off our Ingrid Rothwell from A Kind Of Loving.
