- MTV and VH1 have shown this film many times, and although it isn't a long film they have cut it, specifically the "Smooth Criminal" segment (the showpiece of the film): The dance segment in Club 30's is heavily edited, as is the scene where the kids' dog is returned to them by Michael's manager (leaving one plot question unanswered!) The "Come Together" performance is also shorter. The more recent VH1 Rock and Roll Picture Show airings cut the film down even more, most noticably in the Retrospective sequence.
- The Blu-Ray releases cut shots of Frankie Lideo slapping Katie and threatening to inject her with "drugs".
- Speed Demon on The Michael Jackson Visions box-set has the live action and animated segments re-composited creating a few new shots, most notably when the mountain turns into spike at the very end, in Moonwalker it's a close up, but in the Visions version it's a wide shot with Michael in frame watching the mountain.
- The original German video release dubbed the "Mountain" Spike making a noise in the last moment of the Speed Demon segment - in all other versions you don't hear him say anything.
